Students for Voting Rights

During this critical time for our democracy, we’re fighting to get corporate money out of politics and protect our generation’s freedom to vote. These fights are foundational: without fair elections and accountable governance, every other right becomes vulnerable.

True democracy begins with a just electoral system; one where voters, not corporations or political insiders, determine the future of our communities. Students for Voting Rights (SVR) was originally an Arizona‑based campaign formed to defeat a slate of 2022 ballot measures that would have restricted voting access and weakened the state’s referendum process, one of the strongest tools citizens have to check legislative power. These measures threatened to make it harder for young people, working‑class voters, and communities of color to participate in elections or challenge harmful laws.

After the campaign’s success in Arizona, the Task Force adopted SVR to continue and expand its work mobilizing students around protecting voting rights. What began as a state‑level defense effort evolved into a national student‑powered program focused on safeguarding direct democracy, fighting voter suppression, and building a generation of young organizers capable of defending electoral freedom wherever it is threatened.
